Stalybridge to Diggle (Saddleworth) Order


Application for a Transport and Works Act Order (“the Order”) to authorise Network Rail to construct maintain and operate of works on the Transpennine Line between Stalybridge and Diggle (Saddleworth).  These include works for the electrification of the railway between Stalybridge and Diggle (Saddleworth) and works to upgrade the operation of the existing railway between Stalybridge and Diggle (Saddleworth). 
 
The Order would authorise works to upgrade the operation of the existing railway between Stalybridge and Diggle (Saddleworth), including:- 
•    the construction of a relocated station at Mossley;
•    railway electrification works; and
•    bridge reconstruction works and associated highway works;
The Order also confers:- 
•    powers to close and replace existing level crossings on the railway between Stalybridge and Diggle (Saddleworth); and
•    powers in connection with the construction and operation of the railway.
 
In connection with the application, a request is also being made under section 90(2A) of the Town and Country Planning Act 1990 that planning permission, so far as it is required, shall be deemed to be granted for the development proposed to be authorised by the Order.
 
The application for the Order is also accompanied by applications for Listed Building Consents and requests for certificates under the Acquisition of Land Act 1981
